CIT officers have received training in assisting persons experiencing mental health, intellectual/developmental disabilities and substance use challenges. Child Care Resources
Child Care Assistance
The Child Care Grant Program provides financial assistance for parents returning to school.
Students in College/University Transfer, associate's degree, and diploma programs may apply. They must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year and must be eligible to receive the Pell Grant. Online-only students are not eligible for the Child Care Grant Program.
Funding is limited; the program provides assistance for 8 to 12 students per year. Students with the greatest need will be served first. Eligibility criteria will be strictly enforced and may change without notice. For more information, check out the Child Care Assistance website.
During fall and spring semesters child care is provided free to students, while they are on campus and attending a class, tutoring or school event. Child care is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm. Monday through Thursday evening 5:30 pm until 9:00 pm. Students must complete an Child Care Application and turn it in, along with a current class schedule. The application can be dropped off at the child care classroom Lett Hall (403) or dropped off at faculty offices in Lett (401).
Emergency Financial Assistance
James French Dreamkeeper Student Emergency Fund
The Dreamkeeper Fund provides just-in-time support for students facing emergency expenses that may derail them from completing their education or training program.
What to Know:
- ALL currently enrolled students at 澳门黄金城赌城 are eligible for the Dreamkeeper Fund
- Students can receive up to $400 once per academic year
- Students must provide documentation of a one-time, time-limited emergency expense
- Eligible expenses included: transportation, childcare, utilities, car repairs, tuition, books, course equipment or supplies, certification expenses, and MORE.
- The Dreamkeeper Committee will respond to applications as quickly as possible, and always within two business days.

Finish Line Grants
In an effort to support student success and completion at NC Community Colleges, Governor Roy Cooper announced the Finish Line Grant Program in July 2018. Many times students are faced with unforeseen financial circumstances that can impact the completion of their education or training program. Up to $1,000 per student is available in Finish Line Grant funding to help students overcome those financial barriers.
What to Know:
- Students currently enrolled in any curriculum program and any occupational continuing education program are eligible for the Finish Line Grant Program.
- Eligible students will have completed 50% of their education or training program and show an economic hardship.
- The Finish Line Grant program can help pay for transportation, childcare, tuition, utilities, car repairs, rent costs, and MORE!

Food Assistance or Food Bank - Ruby McSwain Cougar Market
The Ruby McSwain Cougar Market, 澳门黄金城赌城's FREE Food Pantry aspires to support student success by ensuring that no student goes hungry because of a lack of income or access to food. The Cougar Market is stocked with non-perishable snacks and meal items to temporarily alleviate immediate food insecurity for students and their families. In cases of persistent lack of access to food, Cougar Market works with students to connect them to appropriate community resources.
What to Know:
- Any currently enrolled student can access the Cougar Market
- The Food Pantry is open Monday/Wednesday/Friday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. AND Tuesday & Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and by appointment - contact cougarmarket@ozone-1.com to set an appointment.

Holiday Support - Angel Tree
Angel Tree provides toys and clothes to children of current curriculum 澳门黄金城赌城 students in need during the holiday season. Students can submit their children for consideration for the program. If selected, they will be placed on our "eTree" for adoption. Current students, staff, and faculty are then able to adopt an Angel.

Housing and Independent Living Assistance - S.T.A.R.S. Program
The S.T.A.R.S. Program is a self-sufficiency program designed to help low-income residents in Johnston, Lee and Harnett County identify and eliminate barriers that have prevented them from becoming independent. Do you need a laptop to complete your online classes? Please complete the Laptop Request form and we will contact you to notify you of availability. You can also come into the library at the Lee or Harnett campuses to check out a laptop.
Mental Health Resources
Central Carolina Community College has partnered with BetterMynd, an online therapy platform, to offer students access to free teletherapy sessions from a diverse network of licensed mental health counselors. These 50-minute live video sessions are confidential and can take place from the convenience of your laptop, smartphone, or tablet. Teletherapy sessions are available during the day, at night, and on weekends, so you can get support whenever it's best for you.

Scheduled Counseling: Central Carolina Community College students can schedule up to 3 telehealth counseling visits per academic year with a licensed mental health provider. Choose the day, time, and mental health provider that work best for you from an experienced and diverse group of professional clinicians. All services are fully covered—no need to use insurance or pay any type of fee.
Group Workshops: Central Carolina Community College students can schedule workshop sessions on a range of topics like self-care, sleep, managing relationships, and more for a price of $40 per session.

Who can use Bettermynd?
Any 澳门黄金城赌城 students enrolled in curriculum courses (doesn't include dual-enrolled students) can use BetterMynd.
How do I log in?
Go to Bettermynd to Login, or to Register the first time.
How much does a session cost?
There is no additional cost to 澳门黄金城赌城 students enrolled in curriculum courses for the first 3 sessions per academic year. After that, each session is $95. We encourage students reach out if they need more sessions so we can help you explore options.
I already have insurance. How much does Bettermynd benefit me?
With BetterMynd, you have access to providers from anywhere in the United States, regardless of your insurance status. So, you’ll never have to spend time or money looking for care, whether you’re on or off campus.
What can I be treated for?
BetterMynd providers are licensed mental health providers trained to offer support and intervention for a wide range of common mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, interpersonal conflicts and stress management. Your BetterMynd provider will do an initial assessment in your first teletherapy session and together, you will decide on the best course of treatment.
What if I want to speak to a counselor with a specific specialty or lived experience (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, etc.)?
A major strength of our partnership is that we can now offer a diverse pool of therapists across the state and country. When registering and filling out the initial paperwork, you will be able to indicate specialties and counselor identities that are important to you. When you finish, the top 3 therapists that best match your preferences will be shown. You can expand the list to show every therapist in order of how closely they match your preferences.
I don't have a private space to have my tele-therapy session. What can I do?
If you do not have a private space for your teletherapy session call Student Onboarding and Success at 919-718-7300 and we will work with you to make arrangements for you to have a private space.
